ALCESTER turned out in strength to mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force.
Crowds gathered at St Nicolas Church Green to remember the RAF service personnel who have guarded Britain's skies during the last century.
The event, from 4pm on April 1, was introduced by chairman of Alcester's Royal British Legion Mike Gittus.
A wreath was then laid down by Ann Prince, whose parents Dennis and Freda Colbourne were both in RAF, before a flag was raised as a mark of respect and Chaplain. Revd Adrian Guthrie read out prayers.
Events were held across the country for the RAF as part of a national campaign to mark its 100th year, commemorate the service and sacrifice of those who have gone before, and thank its service men and women for their dedication.
