TO help voters get to and from polling stations across Redditch, Bird is offering free rides on its e-scooters.

For one day only on May 5, riders can access two free 15-minute rides to enable them to cast their vote in the local council elections.

James Padden, general manager of Bird said: “Voting is one of our most fundamental rights as citizens, so we want to make sure people have a safe and secure way of getting to the polls on election day.

“Lack of access to transportation should neither prevent nor prohibit anyone from voting.

“Bird takes our commitment to provide mobility for all seriously, which is why we’re pleased we can play a role in helping people to cast their vote.”

Riders need to enter the code VOTE22 into the app where they will automatically be given two free rides of 15 minutes each.

In March, Bird and Redditch Borough Council announced the extension of the e-scooter trial until the end of November 2022.

To coincide with the extension, Bird deployed a brand new fleet of its industry-leading Bird Three vehicles, its most advanced e-scooter to date.
