RESIDENTS are being urged to vote for their favourite pub for the upcoming Community Pub Hero Awards 2022.

PubAid and the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group are on the lookout to recognise pubs that go the extra mile to support their communities and raise money for charity.

This year the competition has been expanded with the creation of separate awards for Community Support Pub Hero and Charity Fundraising Pub Hero.

The Community Support Pub Hero Award recognises licensees who help their communities whilst The Charity Fundraising Pub Hero recognises pubs that support charities and other good causes through fundraising.

This can be through a collection tin on the bar, charity events ranging from quizzes or auctions through to fun days, or sponsored challenges by the licensee, team members or pub customers.

The town’s MP, Rachel Maclean, is encouraging residents to nominate their local for one of the awards up for grabs.

Once the nomination deadline has passed, Ms Maclean will whittle the nominations down to just one pub per category becoming Redditch’s nomination for the Community Support Pub Hero Award and Charity Fundraising Pub Hero Award.

PubAid and the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group judges will then review the entries received and publish a shortlist.

They will be invited, with their local MP, to a reception in London early next year.

Ms Maclean said: “Our pubs are at the heart of their communities and it’s right we recognise the contribution they make to our town.

“Every year they raise vital funds for charities and good causes, as well as ensuring they support their communities.

“I want to celebrate these pubs and so I would encourage residents to submit nominations on behalf of their local for a Community Pub Hero Award.”

Residents can nominate a pub by visiting https://www.rachelmaclean.uk/news/community-pub-hero-awards before 5 pm on Thursday, October 27.
