POLICE have confirmed an incident at Stoke Prior involving an unexploded device - thought to be a wartime bomb - has concluded safely.

West Mercia Police put a cordon in place and evacuated the area after a suspected bomb was discovered near the railway line at a scrap yard at Stoke Prior, Worcestershire.

Railway services were disrupted and Hanbury Road closed but police have since confirmed the cordon has been removed and the road has re-opened.

West Mercia Police thanked members of the public for their patience and a spokesperson for the force said on Twitter: "The incident with an unexploded ordnance on Hanbury Road in Stoke Prior has now concluded safely.

"The cordon has been removed and the road has been re-opened."
