MORE than 200 hot meals were cooked this Christmas Eve by the Redditch Labour Party for residents.
Now in its tenth year, the Christmas Eve meal has grown as food bank use and fuel poverty increases.
The meal is paid for through fundraising, member donations and supported by partners including Morrisons and St Andrews Church.
This year minced beef hotpot with roast potatoes was on the menu and was delivered to individuals and organisations across the town.
Cllr Joe Baker of Batchley and Brockhill Ward said: "Our annual Christmas Eve meal is such a group activity.
“We have a team peeling and chopping from 8 am, with Cllr Bill Hartnett leading the cooking efforts in the kitchen.
“The meals are packed up into foil trays and then delivered by another team.
“It's a lot of hard work but we are committed to playing our part in supporting the community."
This year Redditch Labour Party used leftover funds to also donate to Redditch Cat Rescue.
