A MOTORBIKE rider was taken to the region's trauma unit with serious injuries after a crash with a car in Redditch at the weekend.

The incident, involving a Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle and a Mazda 2 car, happened at the junction of Morsefield Lane and Icknield Street Drive at around 8pm on Saturday August 19.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said the motorcyclist, a man, had "sustained serious injuries" - adding: "He received advanced trauma care at the scene and was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance for further treatment.”

Police said the motorbike rider suffered serious fractures to both legs. The driver of the car, however, was not injured.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to get in touch with police.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "The motorbike was being driven in the direction of the Golden Goose pub towards the Warwick Highway roundabout.

"The car was travelling down Morsefield Lane, approaching the junction with Icknield Street Drive."
