POLICE have launched a witness appeal after a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in a Redditch park.

A man believed to be in his 40s approached the girl in Arrow Valley Park, in the underpass beneath Warwick Highway and near the basketball courts, on Tuesday (September 19).

West Mercia Police said she was sexually assaulted before she managed to struggle free and run away.

The suspect has been described as a white man in his 40s, bald with a stubble beard and moustache.

According to officers he was wearing a dark blue tracksuit, was of medium build and had a local accent.

The incident happened sometime between 9pm and 10pm.

Detective Sergeant Chris Dee of North Worcestershire Reactive CID said: “We understand how concerning this incident is for the local community and I would like to offer my assurances an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the man.

“We’re asking for the public’s help and would like to hear from anyone who can provide any information regarding this assault.

“If you were in or around Arrow Valley Park on Tuesday evening, please get in contact with us. Any motorists who were nearby at the time with dash cam footage may be able to help too.

“Specially trained officers have been providing support to the victim and her family and the public will see an increased police presence in the Arrow Valley Park area as we seek to provide reassurance.”
