A woman has been injured following a collision between an HGV and a car earlier this morning. 

The crash happened shortly after 8am today (Wednesday, March 6) on Old Forge Drive in Redditch near the car park. 

The road was closed following the incident with West Mercia Police and three Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) crews from Droitwich, Redditch and Evesham being called to the scene. 

The crews were supported by the aerial ladder platform from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service. 

On arrival, the crews found a woman in her 60s trapped inside the car. 

She was extracted by fire crews and assessed by crews from West Midlands Ambulance Service. 

A spokesperson for HWFRS said: "Three Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews supported by the aerial ladder platform from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service were called at 8.13am on March 6 to an RTC involving a large vehicle in Old Forge Drive, Redditch.

"The incident involved a car and an HGV with a female casualty in her 60s physically trapped in the car. The woman was extricated from her vehicle and handed over to the care of the ambulance service who attended along with police. The incident was marked as pending closure at 8.52am." 

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police added: "We received a call this morning (March 6) at around 8am with a report of a collision on Old Forge Drive in Redditch.

"Officers attended to find a car and lorry had collided. The driver of the car had minor injuries."
