A MAN in his 20s fell from the roof of an apartment block after an "altercation between a group," West Mercia Police have said.

The man suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital and falling from the roof of Threadneedle House, near Redditch Town Hall, this afternoon (March 7).

Extra officers will continue to be in the area after the town centre incident.

Police said that enquiries are being carried out to establish the circumstances of the incident, with initial enquiries suggesting there was an "altercation between a group of people on the roof shortly before the man, who is in his 20s, fell".

The man was taken to hospital for further treatment.

Searches are on-going to locate two men who it is believed were on the roof at the time of the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Lougher said: “There is an increased police presence in Redditch as we carry out our enquiries and I know some people may be concerned.

“We do not believe there is any wider risk to the public however understand there has been speculation a firearm was discharged. We have established this has not been the case and a firearm has not been discharged.

“We would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation as we deal with the incident and carry out searches of the area.”
