POLICE were called to concerns for a man's safety on a main road in Redditch this afternoon.
Officers were called to Bromsgrove Highway at 1.40pm today (Wednesday March 15) to reports of concern for the safety of a man who was on a bridge.
He was helped by police and has been taken to safety.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "We received a call around 1.40pm this afternoon (15 March) with a concern for the safety of a man on the Bromsgrove Highway in Redditch.
"Following support from officers, the man has now been taken to safety."
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 2.17pm to an incident on Birchfield Road in Redditch.
"One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a man who was conveyed to Alexandra Hospital for further assessment.”
The road was closed for a time by the incident, near Birchfield Road.
