Residents have been advised to keep an eye out for poll cards arriving on their doorsteps.

This is in line with the start of the official process for the upcoming Local Election, scheduled for Thursday, May 2.

The elections set to take place will also include the election for the West Mercia Police Area police and crime commissioner.

This vote marks the first election since the review of Redditch ward boundaries and new wards.

This boundary review was carried out as part of a process review by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England.

As a result, the wards in Redditch have reduced from 12 to nine.

Each of the nine wards will be represented by three councillors.

This leads to this election being an all-out one, where a total of 27 council seats will be elected as opposed to the previous 29.

On polling day, residents will have the ability to cast their votes and choose 27 new councillors across the nine new wards from 7am till 10pm at the designated polling stations.

Darren Whitney, the electoral services manager, said: "The boundary review in Redditch was a major piece of work and now it has been finalised it allows elections to take place using the new wards.

“The Electoral Services Team are encouraging everyone in the Borough to make sure they attend the right polling station in order to cast their vote on the 2nd of May, without any delays.

"If you cannot attend in person, you may be able to apply to vote by post or apply to have someone vote on your behalf as a proxy.”

Those who can not attend in person can apply for postal and proxy votes.

In addition, residents are reminded to hold a valid ID, like a passport or photo driving license, as a requirement to cast a vote in these elections.
