A MAJOR employer is coming to Redditch creating 400 new jobs in a factory at Washford Industrial Estate.

The good news, exclusively revealed to the Advertiser and Indicator, is due to be officially announced by the firm and the development corporation tomorrow.

The factory site will be the old Clarkson’s building near the roundabout at Washford Drive.

Conversion work is due to start at the end of this month and the first batch of workers will be taken on at the end of the summer.

The company produces a well-known brand name product and has factories elsewhere in the Midlands and Scotland.

Clarkson’s International Tools made more than 200 workers redundant when it closed down at the end of 1982.

The company had been in Redditch for 13 years and was one of the first to settle in the “new town”.
