A DARK musical reconstruction following the movements of notorious killer Jack the Ripper is being brought to life by students at NEW College.
Students on courses in theatre and the performing arts will perform the musical today at 1.30pm and 7.30pm at the Artrix in Bromsgrove, as part of modules for their studies.
The students’ course tutor Jacqui McGonagle-Turner, describes the production as “an entertaining and thrilling musical exploration of the notorious events in Whitechapel in 1888”.
She also explained how a total of 18 songs are performed in the musical and more than 20 students perform.
Jonathan Southall, who plays the chairman of the musical, said: “It’s very exciting to be included in a haunting musical which is based upon a true story – it has been a challenging show to rehearse but the result is an amazing and exciting production.”
Adele Robinson, who plays the Ripper’s last victim Marie Kelly, added: “It has been such a pleasure to work both onstage and as part of the production team, on what has turned out to be a very ambitious yet enjoyable production”.
Tickets cost £5 and can be booked on 577330.
