DEPUTY Labour leader Denis Healey offered new hope for Redditch’s jobless army this week, if his party wins the General Election.

Mr Healey launched a blistering attack on the Conservatives’ economic record when he spoke to more than 400 people at the town’s Palace Theatre in support of Mid-Worcestershire candidate Dick Maher.

“She has created an industrial wasteland. Not a town or village in the country has not seen a firm go bust,” Mr Healey said of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Mr Healey went on to say she was turning her party into a personal dictatorship.

“She has deliberately set out to destroy the pride of the British people in their country and to destroy the confidence of the people.”
