FOLLOWING a record breaking West End season at the Garrick Theatre where it was nominated for Best New West End Musical 2010 EastEnder star David Essex brings his own musical to Birmingham.
As part of a major UK tour, The Fun Of The Fair will be coming to the New Alexandra Theatre from September 16 to 18.
The legendary singer and actor, with Boogie Nights creator Jon Conway, is inviting people to a rollercoaster ride of a musical, set in a world of an authentic East End fun fair.
Inspired by David’s album All the Fun of the Fair, the storyline is a heart-warming tale about a fairground family with David playing fun fair owner Levi Lee, recently widowed and father of a rebellious teenage son, Jack.
Dodgems and motorbikes, crafty cons and candy floss, fairground horses and fights, along with romance and rock and roll all prove to be a rollercoaster of a ride, but beware… all is not always fun at the fair.
Many of the West End cast return to the show, including Louise English (Me and My Girl) as Rosa and Tim Newman (Nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical 2010) as Jonny.
They and exciting newcomer, Rob Compton as Jack, are directed by Nikolai Foster, acclaimed director of Flashdance.
