THE medieval bridge in Bidford-on-Avon has been badly damaged after a crops tractor crashed into it.
Police were called to the bridge at about 10.30am today Tuesday, June 9.
The 15th century bridge was closed in both directions while engineers worked on the significant structural damage caused by the incident.
A Warwickshire County Council spokesman said engineers were examining the bridge.
The structure has had to be repaired on numerous occasions including once when a combine harvester became wedged, and its sides had to be demolished in order to remove it.
Previously, in November 2012, the bridge had to be closed due to flooding after the River Avon water level rose significantly.
The monument is a Grade 1 listed building as it is considered to be a building of exceptional interest.
