Redditch Art Circle
The meeting this month was in the form of a workshop in which members were encouraged to set up their equipment and work in their usual medium. Other members could circulate freely around the various workstations, observing and discussing the techniques and, in some cases, trying them themselves. Jackie and Graham were soon busy on their watercolours while Chris worked on her pastel wildlife study. Lorna painted with her water-soluble paint sticks and pencils; Cheryl worked with gilding waxes and Val introduced us to the craft of quilling. The interest shown by the members in all these activities confirmed the popularity of the workshop format for the final meeting of the year.
Our Chair, Val Harris, took the opportunity to present the trophy for “Artist of the Year” to Graham Wilson, this years’ overall winner of our monthly,‘themed’ competition. Mince pies and wine were then served to celebrate the end of a successful year and the start of the festive season.
As usual there will not be a meeting in January, our next meeting will be at St Luke’s Memorial Hall, Evesham Road, Headless Cross on February 1 at 7.30pm when the AGM will be followed by a presentation by Jon Hayes on “Portraiture in Monochrome”.
Supported by Redditch School of Art Trust through Redditch Arts Council.
