BEOLEY WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
MEETING HELD ON 7 FEBRUARY 2017
Penny Poetry, our speaker for February, read a number of her delightful children's poems, and told us how her writing career had begun, and how she had developed her business, Penny Poetry and Art. She had also brought a selection of her attractive illustrations, done in acrylic paint used thinly on watercolour paper, and reproduced on prints, greetings cards, mugs, place mats, and in books of her poetry.
The New Year's Dinner, at Kings Court Hotel, Alcester, was enjoyed by all who attended. A party are going to see Jenny Eclair at the Palace Theatre, Redditch. A member brought a big selection of knitting wool for members to choose from, with all donations going to the Guide Dogs for the Blind.
The competition, for a limerick, was won by Margaret Kemp, with:
There was a young lady called Bella,
who decided she'd like a new fella.
The old one was fine,
but he stepped out of line,
and now he's interred in the cellar.
Do come to our Jumble Sale with refreshments available at Beoley Village Hall on February 25; doors open at 1pm.
Our next meeting will be our birthday tea, on March 7, at 7.30pm at Beoley Village Hall, when our speaker will be Molly Murray, with Little Black Dress. Ladies, please wear your black dress and bling! New members are welcome.
