Redditch Art Circle
The meeting this month was in the form of a workshop in which members were encouraged to set up their equipment and work in their usual medium. Other members could circulate freely around the various workstations, observing and discussing the techniques and, in some cases, trying them themselves. Cheryl Clayton worked with her impressive array of markers, both alcohol based and water based and also demonstrated the use of metallic wax pencils. Mike Crockett used his palette knife and his fingers to paint with acrylics and helped some of the members with their efforts.
Graham Wilson entertained us with his commentary while demonstrating his loose, expressive watercolour technique and Eddy Harris showed us his skill with origami. Eddy had brought along many examples of his work which ranged from quite simple representations of birds and animals to extremely complicated geometric constructions some of which even had 'shape changing' properties. Once again, the interest shown by the members in all these activities confirmed the popularity of having a workshop format meeting in our programme.
Our Chair, Val Harris, took this opportunity to congratulate Stuart Wilson and present him with the trophy for the best painting in our recent exhibition.
The next meeting will be at St. Luke’s Methodist Church, Evesham Road, Headless Cross on Wednesday, September 7 at 7.30pm when Vic. Bearcroft will give his presentation “Wildlife Painting on Velour”
Supported by Redditch School of Art through Redditch Arts Council.
