FOLLOWING an extensive refurbishment over 13 weeks, the main building at Redditch Crematorium has reopened.

The £400,000 refurbishment sees a new upgraded chapel with seating and the option to use coloured lighting should service users wish to enhance a colour theme throughout their ceremony.

The toilet facilities have also been remodelled to make them modern and fit for purpose.

The construction of a new waiting area separate from the main ceremonial facilities now means that where previously there were issues with noise being overheard in the chapel, this should no longer be a problem.

High quality acoustic grade interior fittings have also helped create three distinct spaces for waiting, ceremony and post ceremony.

Michael Birkinshaw, bereavement services manager, said: “The new waiting area is a much needed and well overdue addition to the new building and all of the upgrades now mean we can provide an even higher level of service to the bereaved.”
