Cookhill WI
At the November meeting of Cookhill WI, members were surprised and delighted to be included in the Speaker’s presentation for the evening. Linda Hartley’s title for her presentation was “Puppets”
A blackout stage was created and her musical instruments put in place. Ribbons and various handheld musical instruments – tambourine, triangle, and morrackers distributed to members.
She started by telling us that ‘Elvis was in the Building’ and he was about to start by singing ‘Jail House Rock’. At that point the “puppet” Elvis appeared from behind the blackout staging and sang loud and clear –definitely Elvis was in the building. Carrying on the theme of 70’s stars of Rock & Roll, we watched and sang along with Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly and many others. As the evening progressed members got even more enthusiastic in their participation – even to the point of not only singing along with the puppets but dancing. To conclude this hilarious evening members were encouraged to “Twist Again”!! Linda was thanked for her energetic presentation and members looked longingly for refreshments – singing and dancing had worn them out!
Cookhill WI meets the second Wednesday of each month 7.30pm at Cookhill Village Hall, providing a variety of speakers to suit all tastes together with opportunities to participate in classes and enjoy trips out to interesting venues. New members very welcome
