THE society is a new organisation that has been set up by a small group of like-minded people who met while studying An Introduction to Astronomy at NEW College last year.
As a result, appetites were whetted and several bought telescopes and started to meet to observe the night skies, visit other astronomical society meetings.
In March, members visited Jodrell Bank in Cheshire and experienced their radio telescope and a lecture by Ian Morrisson, one of this country's leading lights in the development of radio telescopy and its uses around the world.
As they are all amateurs, members would be pleased to welcome anyone who has an interest in joining.
Meetings are at Greenlands Church Hall, Greenlands Avenue, Greenlands, at 7.30pm on the first Monday of each month.
