THE Redditch and Alcester Group's new season of monthly meetings starts on Tuesday, September 25 at The Parish Centre, Needle Close, Studley (off Alcester Road, opposite Tesco's) starting at 8pm.
Again, the season will open with the popular vintage cine film show presented by John Constable. This year's show will feature the 1936 LMS film Anytown showing transport advantages, a 1940s LNER training film and a Day Out at Birmingham Snow Hill just before closure.
The railway preservation scene will feature Man Who Loves Engines about famous wildlife artist David Shepherd, who owns "Black Prince" based at Toddington, Little Trains of Wales and a film of Haven Street on the Isle of Wight.
The GWR at Toddington has had a mixed year, a very successful spring gala and high passenger figures was followed later by closure of the line for a week following problems with flooding and then water supplies being stopped. But the line featured on BBC Midlands television when it reopened and again when it ran two famous locomotives together.
September 29/30 will see another Days Out with Thomas and October 13/14 will see the return, by popular demand, of the Autumn Steam and Vintage Rally.
