THE society was pleased to welcome 44 members and five visitors for the August demonstration by Sally Taylor .

Sally's demonstration was entitled "Red Sky at Night" and was based on tales of her life in the farming community.

She made six beautiful designs, each one based on an aspect of farming.

The first design was "Red Sky at Night", which of course means "shepherd's delight".

The second arrangement was based on milking the cows, the third depicted the farm garden, the fourth was based on the sheep who get through the smallest gap in the fence, the fifth depicted the farm machinery with its whirling parts and the final design was hay making.

All Sally's designs were raffled at the end of the afternoon.

The vote of thanks was given by Sheila Blankstone.

The next meeting will be at All Saints Church Hall, Burcot Lane at 2.30 pm on Thursday, September 20.

The demonstrator will be Penny Usher and her title will be "Friends for the Weekend".

The demonstration will be followed by tea and biscuits and the raffle.

This month's competion will be "Autumn Colours" and there will be the usual Flower of the Month, when members may enter a flower at its best from their garden.
