THE society has lectures during the winter and outings during the summer.
For the outings we have one full day, one three-parts day and one afternoon. We also have a weekend away if there is enough interest.
The afternoon outings usually pose a problem as it is difficult to find somewhere new for members who will be familiar with most historic sites within easy reach.
Thankfully, no members had visited the Herefordshire Cider Museum so a trip was arranged on Saturday, August 18.
We were fortunate that an indoor visit had been arranged as the weather was atrocious. The museum explores the story of traditional cider making and has a reconstructed farm cider house, equipment used by travelling cidermakers, original champagne cider cellars, Victorian bottling machinery, a cooper's workshop and a host of other information.
This was the last outing of the summer. From now on, meetings will take place on the first Thursday of each month at 7.30pm at St Luke's Memorial Hall, Headless Cross.
