A WORK of art was unveiled with the start of a new term at Ipsley Middle School when a huge mosaic went on display in the Year 8 classroom.
The mosaic is the work of last year's Year 7 students, who were inspired by a study of Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi. They worked with local group Worcester Arts Workshop to design and create the mosaic themselves, cutting pieces of tile and mirror glass to fit their designs.
Gaudi's work is famous for his use of bright colours and for the fantastic mosaics in places like Park Guell in Barcelona.
Art teacher Kay Spires said: "The children have had a fabulous time, a lot of it was very painstaking and required a lot of staying power but it's turned out better than I thought it would."
The children prepared three large panels with the name of the school and images from their daily lives and then grouted around the pieces of ceramic tile, polishing the finished work.
The finished work has now moved up a year with the children so that they can continue to be proud of it.
