FOLLOWING a dog attack that left a four year old in hospital, a Woodrow resident is furious that police are not taking action against the owner.
Callum Cashmore was visiting a relative on Sunday, September 9 when the owner's Pekingese dog bit his face, causing two puncture wounds.
He was then taken to the Alexandra Hospital and given antibiotics.
Callum's aunt Vanessa Bradley asked the police to do something about the dog but was told that the force would not be taking action.
"As soon as I saw Callum's face I broke down and cried," said Vanessa.
"It's disgusting - I'm absolutely furious the police can't do anything. The whole family is distraught. I want something done and I want people to be aware that family dogs can do things like this.
"Owners need to be careful, especially when kids are involved."
Callum was due to be starting at his new school but had to take the first week off while he recovered.
A police spokesman said: "It's not a police matter because the incident did not happen in a public place. No offence has been committed."
