AS part of Roald Dahl Day, Waterstones in the Kingfisher Centre spent the day celebrating.
The annual day, on Thursday, September 13, saw the store put on activities for children and held a colouring competition with goody bags to give away.
Chocolate milk and snacks were laid on for fans of the books and there was a contest to pin the golden ticket on Willy Wonka.
Hannah Liddell from Waterstones said: "Last year we held the event on a week day and it was just storytelling.
"Loads of kids came in and they were quite interested, but this year we thought we would make it more family friendly."
It is now 46 years since the publication of Roald Dahl's first children's novel, James and the Giant Peach, and he was recently voted most popular children's author in a poll by ITV3, beating JK Rowling, CS Lewis and JM Barrie.
