THE run down Church Hill centre is set to be transformed with a massive facelift.
A redevelopment scheme will seek to reduce antisocial behaviour and encourage social inclusion.
Councillor Robin King said: "I think these plans are definitely a plus, it will create a link between Church Hill, Winyates and Matchborough.
"It is definitely a step in the right direction for generating more jobs and for any business which wants to expand.
"Everything that is there at the moment will remain there.
"The road will become a through road and there will be private and affordable housing."
Mr King added: "All the shops that are currently there will be relocated while the new ones are being built so there won't be any loss of business."
The final decision on the redevelopment was due to be made at a full council meeting on Monday.
