FAMILIES in Batchley are set for a boost thanks to a new SureStart children's centre which has recently been launched.
The Cherry Trees Centre at Batchley First School was officially opened by Redditch Mayor, Councillor David Hunt, who planted a cherry tree in the grounds.
The centre will replace SureStart's temporary Batchley base at Millstream Surgery.
Judith Willis, children's centre programme manager, said: "It's fantastic to finally have a permanent base in Batchley.
"We're delighted to be working in partnership with Batchley First School as well as Kidsco Nursery and the Oak Centre.
"We're looking forward to extending our services at a sister site at Holyoakes Field First School later in the year."
Services which will be available at the new centre include an antenatal clinic, IT and literacy courses, a dads' group, baby and toddler groups and one-to-one support for families to suit their needs.
The new centre joins other children's centres across the town, including Holly Trees in Riverside and Oak Trees in Lodge Park.
