FIVE youngsters from Redditch have been rewarded for their outstanding contribution to the town's Student Council.
Oliver Dyer, Daniel Allen, Tamsin White, Anthony Roige and Jijo Vembalili were presented with a Diana Award by the Mayor, Councillor David Hunt, during a council meeting at Redditch Town Hall.
They were selected to receive the national award because of the qualities they demonstrated and hard work they put into staging a special event for young people in Redditch last year.
Phil Mould, leader of Redditch Council, said: "The Student Council has been a flagship for local young people and over the years has brought forward some amazingly talented representatives.
"It's great to see this being recognised locally and nationally."
Councillor Liz Eyre, Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member for children and young people, said: "It is a fantastic achievement.
"These young people are a real inspiration to their peers and their efforts have been recognised with this national award."
She added: "They are a real credit to their community and should be extremely proud of their achievements."
