MORE than 1,000 people including Home Secretary Jacqui Smith attended an open day at Mettis Aerospace on Saturday.
The event was organised to promote the company's achievements over recent years and to recognise the hard work of its 650-strong workforce and the support of their families, neighbours and the local community.
The Redditch MP viewed a number of displays including a Spitfire, which actually flew during the day, and a BAE Hawk used by the RAF Red Arrows.
Also on display was a Challenger 1 Tank loaned by Bovington Tank Museum.
The Mayor of Redditch, Councillor David Hunt and his wife also supported the event.
Mettis, a world leader in the manufacture of high precision aluminium and titanium components, is one of the biggest employers in the town.
Ms Smith presented the company's apprentices with a series of awards and managing director Archie MacPherson presented cheques to the Make a Wish charity and Bovington Tank Museum.
