AT our first meeting after our summer break, we had a busy schedule.
Our speaker was Eric Hibbs, who bought a selection of nostalgic wartime songs for us to listen to and sing along with and told us a little about the singers and the shows the songs came from.
Margaret J Smith gave the vote of thanks. After that we held a harvest festival auction of the produce members bought in. We had several visitors and a new member. Invitations had come from various other WI's in our group and an appeal for volunteers for a police rehearsal of a national emergency to phone in reports of incidents.
Our recent outing to the Cotswolds had been very enjoyable, despite the owner of the shop we went to visit flouting the trades description act by claiming to be running a restaurant which had never got started!
We enjoyed discovering the village of Blockley and the subsequent visit to Broadway. Names were taken of members wishing to take part in a sketch we hope to do of our Christmas meeting. The competition was won by Jackie Grier, with Hilary Ruck second and Margaret Smith third. Flower of the Month was won by Margaret Bennett.
Our next meeting will be on October 8 at 2pm when all members and friends will be welcome.
