AFTER the August break, the club met again on September 11.

Liz Nicholson is a florist, she entitled her demonstration Something Old, Something New.

Liz reminded us that she last came to the club on June 9, 1998. It was agreed to have her back again.

This time she brought along her mum, who acted as gofer for her. After Liz did an arrangement, mum carried it around the room to enable everyone to have a close-up look at it.

Her first arrangement was a country basket, using pink lilies and pink roses with mixed foliage.

She followed this with a spherical arrangement using arbutus foliage, hypericum and sunflowers.

Then came a triangular arrangements using fatsia, ivy and hebe foliage, which she grouped in blocks at the three corners, then added green gladioli and green tiny cabbages, eringiums, purple asters and carnations.

A bowl was used for a beautiful arrangement of hebe, pale lemon chrysanthemums and coxcomb, small orange gerberas and stunning phormium leaves.

For the final arrangement she used a wicker cage in which she arranged a hand tie of hypericum, white roses and golden hop.

Elizabeth Hobbis gave the vote of thanks.

The next meeting is on October 9 when Alwyn Stanley entitles her demonstration Inspiration from the East. Visitors are always welcome.
