ALCESTER micro-brewery, Purity Brewing Co has brewed up a success now its real ale has been nominated one of the world's top 50 beers in a prestigious international beer competition.

Purity, based at Upper Spernall Farm, near Alcester was delighted to be told the news that its bottled Pure UBU (pronounced oo-boo) had been short listed in the International Beer Challenge (IBC) 2007, the largest packaged beer competition in the world.

Each year, the challenge seeks out the finest beers from across the globe and in association with Off Licence News, publishes its list of the "World's 50 Best Beers".

The winning beer from each of the 12 classes, together with the overall Supreme Champion and winning international entry, will be presented with their award at the prestigious IBC awards ceremony in London on Wednesday, October 3.

Paul Halsey, sales director at Purity, said: "Since commencing operations nearly two years ago, the Purity team has worked hard to develop premium quality products and maintain a professional approach to the business.

"We are really thrilled that our hard work has paid off and look forward to the awards ceremony to see which beer becomes Supreme Champion."
