A NEW fitness club has been started by four young people at Redditch YMCA.
Fit 4 Life was created by four teenagers who wanted to improve their fitness in order to join the Army and will take place on Wednesdays from 4.15-5.15pm at Redditch YMCA Community Centre in Church Hill.
Steve Little, 19, along with 15-year-olds Sam Pope, Ashley Mooney and Damien Blackford, all from Church Hill, wanted a facility to improve their fitness.
With the help of YMCA's youth services manager Darren Veness, they put in a bid to the Worcestershire County Council's FLOSS Fund for £2,300 to buy equipment, hire a room, pay for training and a fitness coach.
The bid was successful and the lads have helped to purchase the necessary equipment to get the club off the ground.
"I am delighted that these four lads have taken the initiative to prepare themselves for their future careers," said Darren.
"These lads are a great example of how, with a bit of encouragement, young people can be inspired to do something about their own futures."
If you are over 14 and would like to improve your fitness while having fun with a qualified fitness coach, call Redditch YMCA on 61643.
