ASSURA Property, the development company behind a proposed new medical centre in Redditch, has revealed more details about their plans for the site, providing an artist's impression of how the new building might look.

The company, which is in the process of acquiring Car Park 7 is proposing to bring three existing GP surgeries into the centre, St Stephen's Surgery, Hillview Medical Centre and The Bridge Surgery, has been in talks with the surgeries about relocation as well as facilities, internal design and car parking for staff and visitors at the new centre.

A spokesman for Assura Property said: "As well as providing an outstanding, high quality medical centre, this scheme would be a positive and substantial investment in the area and a major improvement to a site which is in a poor state and under used."

Dr Jonathan Wells, a partner at Hillview Medical Centre commented: "Patients will continue to have ready access to their own doctors as now, plus a wider range of services and far better premises that will be purpose built for the delivery of modern primary healthcare services."

Objections to the proposals have been raised by staff and patients from two other town centre medical practices, Elgar House and the Dow Surgery, who have expressed their concerns that there would not be adequate parking available to all patients once Car Park 7 has been demolished.
