A SUPER student from Kingsley College has been chosen to be an Oxford University Ambassador, an honour awarded to only 100 young people aged 13-14 nationwide.
After writing about the challenges facing young people and the way they are misunderstood, Zak Freckleton, 14, will benefit from a shadowing programme, in which he will be paired with an Oxford undergraduate to gain first hand experience of life at one of the world's most prestigious universities.
Before that, he will attend the Aspire, Build and Challenge Summer School and a team-building residential.
Deputy head Mark Atherton said: "We are extremely pleased that Zak has been chosen and are immensely proud of him.
"Zak's a delightful young man and they couldn't have picked a nicer representative of the college. He is a very mature and sensible pupil."
The programme, jointly funded by Oxford University and the Sutton Trust, is a bid to inspire talented students whose immediate family did not attend higher education.
As part of his commitment to the four year programme, Zak will be expected to share information about Oxford University with his peers.
