STUDENTS at NEW College were caught on film last Wednesday as they watched David Cameron's address to the Conservative Party Conference.
The students, who are all studying for various qualifications at the college, were interviewed by a Sky News correspondent to determine their views on the Conservative Party leader's speech.
Despite being the seat for the current Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, Redditch is a marginal constituency and voters are likely to receive a lot of attention in any forthcoming election so the national news agency were keen to poll the latest generation of voters for their opinions.
Laura Pugh, who studies A-Level Critical Thinking, said: "Although David Cameron has some good ideas, the question is whether he will see them through or not, if given the chance."
Voter apathy has been a real concern in recent years with the 2001 election seeing voting numbers sink to the lowest they have been since 1918, and 2005's election only rose slightly to see 61 per cent of the electorate voting.
Young voters are a particular target for all the parties and watching David Cameron's speech seemed to stir up debate among the students.
Although opinion was split as to which party the youngsters would vote for, they did all agree that whenever the next election is called, they will be putting their views forward.
