A PLAY written for a summer spoilt by rain will be coming to the Swan Theatre in Worcester.
Relatively Speaking, written by Alan Ayckbourn, starts when Greg mistakes his girlfriend Ginny's ex-lover Phillip, an older man, for her father and asks his permission to marry her.
Mr Ayckbourn said: "The play was intended to make people laugh when their summer holidays were spoiled by the rain and they came into the theatre to get dry.
"This seemed to me as worthwhile a reason for writing a play as any and after a summer of flooding across the region it seems an especially worthwhile reason to perform the play in Worcester."
This year is also the 40th anniversary of the play's debut in the London West End and is Ann Moore's second time directing Relatively Speaking, reviving the show for the first time since 1985.
The play is on from Tuesday, October 9 to Saturday, October 13 and starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £7 (£5 concession) from 01905 611 427.
