ASTWOOD Bank Carnival committee will be hosting its second beer festival this month.

The Oktoberfest will take place at the Oddfellows Arms in Astwood Bank from noon-11pm on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13 and from noon-6pm on Sunday, October 14.

The festival programme features 14 real ales. There will various session beers including Lees Bitter and Wadworth Horizon. Most of the ales will be late summer ales from across the UK such as Durham Magus and Nottingham Legend. For those with a stronger thirst the festival includes Holden's Special and Exmoor Beast.

The festival features the two award winning beers from the brewery in Great Alne, Purity. Pure Gold is a renowned session ale and Purity UBU has recently been nominated as one of the best 50 beers in the world.

There will also be three ciders and one perry on sale from local cider makers Tardebigge Cider and Hogan's Cider.

The ciders are made from traditional English varieties of apples to make a clear delicate pale cider with refined character that rarely fails to delight the palate.

Hot food and live music will also be on tap. The Friday night will feature a live acoustic set and the Saturday entertainment includes local Morris dance sides and the percussion Samba band, Banda Sem Nome.

All the proceeds from the beer festival will go to local charities and organisations.
