A POLISH man burgled his former home in Redditch to steal cash and food.
Lukasz Truchanowski got into the property in Bromsgrove Road at night through an insecure door, Worcester Crown Court heard.
He grabbed bread and cheese from a fridge and £60 on September 15.
Arrested the next day, he still had £52 on him, said prosecutor Jo Barker.
Truchanowski, aged 25, now of Wheelwright Lane, Coven-try, pleaded guilty to burglary.
Judge Richard Rundell, who was told the defendant had spent 21 days in jail, freed him and imposed a 12-month community order with 180 hours of unpaid community work.
The targeted property belonged to his ex-landlord and was rented by another tenant.
Truchanowski, of previous good character, had spent 18 months in Britain and was a hard worker, said Jason Aris, defending.
