THE cardiac rehabilitation team based at Alexandra Hospital in Redditch have been given a prestigious award.
The team has been awarded the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR)’s Green Award for helping give people the best quality of life.
The team offer a telephone support line, regular exercise and education classes, and support group meetings for patients with cardiac problems.
Linda Barratt, cardiac rehab specialist nurse, said: “We’re delighted to receive this award, which wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the team in CCU (coronary care unit) and CPAN (certified post anaesthesia nurse) at the Alex.
"Our strong teamwork and the flexible approach of everyone in the team has been crucial to us achieving this recognition.
"Everything we do is to ensure we are putting our patients first and helping our patients to move through the four phases of recovery to give them the best possible quality of life.”
