THERE was strong reaction to news that Redditch will finally be getting a new food shop in the town centre.
The Advertiser reported that Iceland Foods, which proudly calls itself the home of frozen food, will be coming to The Range in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre.
As well as frozen food it has been reported that there will be a fresh selection, and bakery.

Domonique Lippett, marketing manager at Kingfisher said: “We’re really excited about the introduction of Iceland to The Range, this is a great addition to the centre and strengthens our food offering for our local community.
"The new addition demonstrates that big brands are committed to having a presence in the centre and we look forward to welcoming Iceland to Kingfisher.”
It is unknown when the store will open.
Many readers have got in touch and posted online welcoming the news, but many have said they are less than impressed.
Commenting on the paper's Facebook page Claire Elizabeth Hobday said: "Why do we need 2 Icelands in Redditch? Stupid..."
Sylvia Page said: "Got excited by the headlines only to find its Iceland!"
Charlotte Brown said: "Who in their right mind has asked for MORE food shops? We need more entertainment. We have the cinema. That’s it."
David Glen said: "Is that the best we can expect, who makes these decisions seriously."
Stevie Ewen said: "There is an Iceland 5 minutes down the road... is it really that busy that we need another one."
However, not everyone was so despondent.
Jim Clarke said: "No wonder nobody wants to come to Redditch. How fickle are the people of Redditch? We want a supermarket/food hall. Here's Iceland with fresh produce. "no, not that one, another one" FFS. If people used M&S a bit more, it would have stayed here. Businesses will only go where the customers are and where they can survive ... as a business. Hey, why are there no roller discos in Redditch? It's sooo boring."
