A MAN in his 20s who was arrested as part of an ongoing murder investigation in Redditch has been released without charge.
A 22-year-old, named locally and on social media as musician Colton Bryan, was stabbed to death at his home in Guinness Close on Wednesday night (July 15).
The following day, West Mercia Police arrested a man, also in his 20s, in connection with the fatal stabbing. Detectives have now confirmed the man has been released without charge.
A police spokesperson said: "This is a live investigation with several ongoing lines of enquiry".
Last week, a witness told of her horror as she tried to save the victim after the attack. She said she "cradled" him before emergency services arrived at the scene.
Tributes to the young musician have been paid on social media. One Facebook user described him as "One of the nicest guys around and unbelievable with the saxophone."
Another said: "You were an amazing person and musician, you made us all proud, a true inspiration."
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 9.38pm on Wednesday and two ambulances, two paramedic officers and two BASICS emergency doctors attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman said: “On arrival, crews found a man in a critical condition. Staff worked as a team to administer advanced life support on scene to the man.
“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts, nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
His family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained police officers.
