THE grand opening of the new Greig Leisure Centre in Alcester will take place this Friday (August 7).
Stratford-on-Avon District Council acquired the leisure centre from the Greig Trustees back in January this year.
The District Council-funded enhancements include a brand new outdoor floodlit 3G football pitch, renovations to the gym, dance studio and sports hall and completely refurbished changing areas.
Councillor Christopher Kettle, chairman of the council, will host the event and the Rt Hon Nadhim Zahawi MP will formally open the Leisure Centre.
Cllr Sarah Whalley-Hoggins, community portfolio holder said: “The District Council is committed to providing first class sport and leisure facilities for everyone to enjoy and was committed to investing in the leisure facilities at the Greig.
"We are, with our contractor Everyone Active, delighted to be able to deliver quality leisure facilities and services at the Greig, encouraging more people to live healthier and active lifestyles, which the residents of Alcester and the surrounding villages will benefit from.”
