REDDITCH residents will be dancing in the street this summer as an exciting programme of live entertainment has been announced.
Delivered by Indigo Arts, which is based in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre, Street Beats will see five busking points located around the ‘old town’ area of Redditch where a variety of talented local performers will entertain visitors.
Beginning on Saturday, June 26, Street Beats will take place every Saturday and Sunday, between 11.00am – 3.30pm, concluding on Sunday, August 1.
In addition to the six weekends, Street Beats will also entertain visitors for the whole last week of July.
Performance locations include Bandstand at the top of Unicorn Hill, Church Green, St Stephen’s and the top of Alcester Street.
Leigh Walton, Redditch Business Improvement District (BID) Board member, said: “Redditch is a fantastic town to visit but, like many high streets, we need to diversify and give people additional reasons to come.
"We hope that all those who live in or near Redditch will see this as an exciting opportunity to enjoy some first-class entertainment that will get people literally dancing in the streets.
“The past 18 months have been incredibly difficult, so we’re really hoping this will give residents of Redditch a much-needed lift.
"As Louis Armstrong once said, ‘Music is life itself’, so as life returns to (almost) normal, we urge people to come and join us in breathing new life into Redditch town centre.”
