DISRUPTION caused by the Covid pandemic hasn't stopped pupils from an Astwood Bank school from creating their own online magazine.
Students at Ridgeway Secondary School, Evesham Road, began turning their journalistic ambitions into reality over lockdown by setting up the magazine, called The Real Ridgeway.
It was the brainchild of year 11 media studies students and their teacher Emily Nicholls, and now pupils from years nine and ten have also joined the team.
Emily said: "Several of our year 11s want to go into the media and are looking at A-level media courses at college, so this has been a fantastic outlet for them.
"I've been really impressed at their enthusiasm and commitment to making the magazine a success and I'm looking forward to working with students over the next school year to continue developing the magazine."
Year 11 student Caitlin Williams, who has been working on the magazine, said: "The school magazine is great for students who want to go into journalism when they are older."
Headteacher, Mike Bennett, added: "The students have put in a terrific effort to get the magazine up and running during what has been a really difficult time for all of them.
"We are looking forward to it growing in stature over the coming months and years to become a real publication of record for our school and I'm convinced we'll see a number of the student team go on to careers in the media world."
