A HALLOWEEN and lights extravaganza is set to entertain Redditch this Autumn.
The usual firework display at Arrow Valley Park, which was cancelled last year due to Covid, is set to be replaced with a week-long event this October.
It comes as council chiefs looked to find an alternative event to the firework display, that was more accessible and cost-effective.
Cllr Mike Rouse, whose portfolio covers leisure, said: “Due to the current layout of the Park, and the ongoing construction works for the new supermarket, we cannot make it a ticketed event at this point in time, which would have helped not only with the costs, but with limiting and managing the amount of people attending the event to ensure it is safe.
“That’s why we have to come up with something else for this year.”
Council Leader Matt Dormer said: “We have no idea what social restrictions could be in place later on this year so I support this decision from that point of view, but also, after a year of not much happening anywhere, it’s fantastic that we are committed to putting on this week-long extravaganza, rather than a one night wonder.”
More details about the Autumn event will be released next month.
