REDDITCH will once again commemorate its famous son when the 'John Bonham: A Celebration Festival' returns on Saturday, September 25.
The event, organised in memory of the late Led Zepplin drummer, is bigger than ever in 2021 thanks to the addition of a Fringe Festival, showcasing music, dance, comedy and poetry.
As well as the festival, fans can expect rock and blues artists taking to the open air Arena Redditch stage in the town centre and two headliner shows at the Palace Theatre.
The weekend first launched in 2018 in honour of the iconic drummer, with fans flocking from around the world.
The event was cancelled last year due to the pandemic, but is back in a new format.
Joanne Beecham, fringe organiser and councillor, said: "It’s been a tough 18 months for everyone and we just wanted to do something for local people to enjoy in the open-air as we head into Autumn, and give the town and its traders an economic boost."
The festival will run from 10.30am – 6pm on and around the Church Green and will feature local performers, a fun fair, street food vendors and traders.
Respected names from the rock world will take to the stage at the Palace Theatre for a matinee and evening performance, including top Led Zepplin tribute band, CODA.
Meanwhile over at the Arena Redditch, a host of local talent will perform on the open air stage located close to John’s memorial in Mercian Square.
Ros Sidway, director of the festival, said: We’re so pleased to be able to combine the Fringe with the main Bonham Festival as it means there will be something for everyone to enjoy, and more people will benefit - from the musicians, dancers, and various other entertainers to traders and local businesses.
"We still have sponsorship and advertising opportunities ranging from £50 up to £4000 for those who would like to be involved and support the event.”
Tickets for John Bonham A Celebration, in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, are available online via www.JohnBonhamAC.com.
Theatre show tickets are also available from the Palace Box Office while Arena Redditch Tickets may also be purchased from Vintage Trax Records, off Church Green East.
